Known by the locals as the “Honeymonk” or “The Monk,” Lexington Barbecue was established in 1962 by Wayne Monk. Since its establishment, the white building on the hill has grown from a small cafe to a nationally known barbecue restaurant.
Their success is due to believing in quality customer service and staying with the true barbecue cooking tradition, meaning cooking with wood, not gas. They only cook pork shoulders and they only cook it over oak or hickory coals. They cook fresh everyday. They believe that true barbecue has different flavors and different cuts.
They would love the chance to serve you. So please go in, sit down, have some tea or Cheerwine, ask questions, and taste what they believe is the world’s best barbecue. Or, simply park your car, roll down your window, and take advantage of their curb service. What people are saying about Lexington Barbecue:
"The BBQ was good, the flavor was on point and the house sauce just added to it. The service was quick and friendly. The hush puppies were delicious, the red slaw was still quite good. I would definitely make a trip back for another round."
"Fun, fast service. Line was long, but man, they move em in quick! Had the sliced bbq and it was so tender,. Hubby had the chopped which was equally delish. Hush puppies were hot, tender inside, crisp outside. Chased it all down with warm peach cobbler."
