Mocksville, North Carolina
Mocksville is a vibrant community with large oak trees whose branches extend a welcome to all that pass by. Mocksville has three historic districts. The town is proud to be home of the Piedmont Antique Power Association annual tractor parade, in celebration with the Fourth of July fireworks. Nascar on two wheels, the Downtown Mocksville Criterium takes place with amateur and nationally acclaimed pro cyclists racing in a loop around downtown at speeds up to 45 miles per hour in late July.
It’s easy to find out when there’s an event taking place downtown Mocksville; just look for the orange fluttering flags. Make plans to attend the Piedmont C.A.R.S. Association “Cruise In” happening the first and third Mondays from April to October. Also, the Town hosts a Farmers Market on Wednesday afternoons from 3-6 PM from April to November with local certified producers. The market is located beside the Mocksville Town Hall with a great variety of produce and homemade products for sample and sale.
Other popular events include the annual Daniel Boone Family Festival, the first Saturday in May, with re-enactors, historical tours, music, games, vendors and more to commemorate this famous Davie County resident. Frontiersman Daniel Boone once called Mocksville home and his parents are buried here in Joppa Cemetery. The Four Oaks Festival takes place beneath the oaks in the town square on the second Saturday in October. It features live music, a kid’s area, artisans, and crafters.
